Kristina joined the SEPUP team in 2023. She brings 10 years of high school science teaching experience, including work at different types of comprehensive and alternative schools in the East Bay, working with diverse student populations, English Learners, and at-risk youth. She has taught many subjects including biology, environmental science, earth science, US history, civics, independent study, intro art, and intro film studies. Additionally, Kristina previously worked as a science curriculum developer at the Lawrence Hall of Science contributing to the Amplify Science digital curriculum units for middle school. Kristina has a BS in Biochemistry and Cell Bio from UCSD, and a M.Ed and teaching credential from UC Berkeley. Throughout her career as a science educator, she has always believed in the importance of scientific tools and ways of thinking to help young people understand the many challenges that the world is facing today, as well as to navigate important decision making processes in their own lives. Kristina is also a trained doula, childbirth educator, and birth photographer, as well as a budding crocheter, ukulele player, belly dancer, and overlander.
